Bishop's palace Apples

Oil on canvas on board 2019 62 x 54 cms

I recently did an outside day with Chandos Art Society and had a lovely, but rather soggy, time in the Bishops' Palace allotments in Wells sketching these apples which I've been turning into a painting. I bought a roll of canvas and covered some board for an old ornate frame that I've had for years ( but now in a modern mellow wooden painted frame).Painting on the untreated canvas was OK with thickening medium in the paint using a palette knife but it acted like a sponge when using a brush ! Thus I sealed the background which made life easier. I've placed the focus of the painting in the right bottom third as suggested by the Golden Rule. glastphil@aol.com text 07801 281497 t 01458 443388
