Oil on canvas
61 x 50.8 cms (24 x 20 ")
When visiting the NT Agatha Christie's house on the River Dart in Devon the jewel in the crown for me is her boat house at the bottom of the garden on the River Dart. It's a most wonderful river to sail on as the countryside comes right down to the shore. Mounted in a wooden frame painted in 'cocoa' - a matt brown colour so I think it'll fit into traditional or modern decors. view

Oil on canvas on board
62 x 54 cms
I recently did an outside day with Chandos Art Society and had a lovely, but rather soggy, time in the Bishops' Palace allotments in Wells sketching these apples which I've been turning into a painting. I bought a roll of canvas and covered some board for an old ornate frame that I've had for years ( but now in a modern mellow wooden painted frame).Painting on the untreated canvas was OK with thickening medium in the paint using a palette knife but it acted like a sponge when using a brush ! Thus I sealed the background which made life easier. I've placed the focus of the painting in the right bottom third as suggested by the Golden Rule. glastphil@aol.com text 07801 281497 t 01458 443388 view

Oil on aluminium
16" x 16"
We originally called this 'Back to front fruit' because of the strange fruit colours - to give it an abstract impression, but it didn't ring too well. This is made up of several thin layers of special Michael Harding hand made oil paint and mediums that include special oils. I've never painted on aluminium before and enjoyed this project very much - hope you like the abstract twist to familiar fruit ! Mounted in nice white painted frame with the grain showing I'm really pleased with this - it's even better in the flesh ! view

The idea just developed as I went along. Wanted to experiment with a pastel combination on canvas so the large cross stripes are pastel with three coats of matt varnish, the rest is acrylic paint with three coats of gloss varnish. The perspective is achieved only by converging lines, I haven't changed colours as the lines go further away as one would in a landscape composition, but I have put some blue 'pointilist' dots in the far rectangle to give it a bit of distance. t01458 443388 e-m glastphil@aol.com view
